Our Philosophy

The Why

My interest in assisting people in being physically fit and well began in 1975 when I started a B Ed (Phys Ed). To this day I continue to get a huge kick out of seeing the health improvements of our clients, training in a private and caring environment at HEALTHY GLOW.

Understanding how any of us can improve our health and perform better with the right care and training is quite fascinating. All those years ago I realised that being physically fit is within anyone’s capacity and all comes down to finding the motivation, and convenient and suitable environment.

Your body is an amazing thing, because it wants to be at its best, no matter age, current health or status.

It is busy cleansing, building, and replacing cells every minute of the day for you. It fights hard to stay alive until the very end! If we nurture it with mainly great nutritious food and exercise it regularly, it will bristle up, to be its very best, very willingly!

Now I’m the first to recognise that we can all be blindsided by ill health and setbacks and restrictions. I had a bout of cancer eight years ago with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Stressful times when you have just opened your own business!

Being in pretty good health otherwise, I was able to get through my 3.5 months of chemotherapy, brush my hair out, whack on a cap (easier for us guys!) and only lose 2 days in the studio each fortnight cycle.

A part of getting through that (and not losing my new business), I would put down to being in pretty good overall health. Had I been a smoker, overweight or very unfit I have no doubt that this would have made my tolerance and recovery more challenging. 

But how lucky are we to have access to treatment? I feel very grateful!

Your body is an amazing thing, because it wants to be at its best, no matter age, current health or status.

There are so many good reasons to be fit and well.

Why wouldn’t you want to be at your best for good health now?

Why not be a great example to your children?

Why not be ready for the next health challenge (not “if” but “when”)?

Why not look and move your best for your age?

And why not milk out the very healthiest, long and independent life?

The fundamental thing here is to understand “YOUR WHY”?

As a child we have a natural urge to move, run, jump, roll and climb. This regular active movement assists our body to grow and develop into a hopefully fully operational and functional, healthy adult body.

But then “Life gets in the way!” and we lose our health.

But we don’t have to!

There are now an ever increasing percentage of men and women who are challenging what is possible even in later life, discovering that many of the restrictions and illnesses that we have accepted as normal in older age are largely as a response to our poor eating and sedentary lifestyles, rather than many actual physiological reasons.

People in their 70’s and beyond are still exercising, even competing, and living as active a lifestyle as they did in their 30’s!

We have now become so dysfunctional, overweight, unhealthy, unhappy and reliant on unnecessary medications and avoidable surgeries …. largely because of poor dietary intake and sedentary lifestyles.

It’s such a shame when we live in such a wonderful time and country.

  • Why Exercise?

The How

I have very purposely chosen to provide an environment at HEALTHY GLOW where exercise can be safe, fun, motivating and very productive in a short time frame, for maximum measureable results.

HEALTHY GLOW is all about setting your personal goals and being able to exercise the whole body in a wide variety of ways without restrictions.

I handpick the staff at HEALTHY GLOW for their professionalism, compassion and ability to keep you motivated towards your goals. They are all committed to you achieving your goals.

I am also a big believer in our need as humans to feel a sense of recognition and belonging.

At HEALTHY GLOW you become part of a family of likeminded people who live in Woodvale or a nearby suburb.

Big gyms are very impersonal, and often full of “look at me” people. Very off putting for us normal people. Being encouraged and directed in a private studio is far more pleasant, which means you will attend, enjoy and ultimately gain the results that you want!

Having a scheduled booking here at HEALTHY GLOW is also the trick! You will be so much better off, knowing that your trainer is going to be ready for you, to encourage you to meet your goals. This is the only way that most people will truly achieve their goals.

Measurable Results

Everybody’s motivation is different.

Whether you talk in dress sizes, lack of tone, feeling old, sleep apnoea, beer belly, cellulite, loss of fitness, muscle loss or wobbly bits! ….. we have heard them all!

We need to know what you want to achieve… that’s the beauty of personal training.

One size doesn’t fit all!

We get a kick out of tailoring your plan! We will blend the correct mix of FAT BURN, CARDIO FITNESS, RESISTANCE TRAINING, FUNCTIONAL/CORE STRENGTH TRAINING, MUSCLE TONING and FLEXIBILITY components.

We pride ourselves on providing top quality Personal Training, for the specific purpose of gaining the “RESULTS” that “YOU” want and to be able to measure those results on a regular basis.
